Ali Sadro

Ali Sadro is a criminal defence lawyer who represents individuals facing serious and complex criminal charges throughout Ontario. Dual-qualified to practise law in the Province of Ontario and the State of Florida, he has built his practice around strategic and results-driven advocacy at every stage of the criminal process—from bail and pre-trial proceedings through Charter litigation, trial and sentencing.

Mr. Sadro regularly appears before the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice in jurisdictions across the province. His practice encompasses a broad range of criminal matters, including impaired driving and serious driving offences, assault and domestic allegations, sexual offences, drug and weapons charges, fraud and financial crimes, robbery, criminal harassment, and other serious Criminal Code offences.

He represents clients through the full spectrum of criminal proceedings, including bail hearings and reviews, Crown and judicial pre-trials, preliminary inquiries, resolution negotiations, Charter applications, trials and sentencing hearings. His approach begins with a detailed examination of the prosecution’s case: the evidence, the police investigation, the admissibility of that evidence, and whether his client’s constitutional rights have been respected.

Mr. Sadro understands that the consequences of a criminal charge can extend far beyond the courtroom. A prosecution can place a client’s liberty, career, professional standing, immigration status, family and reputation at risk. For that reason, each case is approached individually and strategically, with careful consideration given not only to the charge itself, but also to the broader consequences for the person facing it.

Preparation is central to Mr. Sadro’s practice. He is meticulous in his review of disclosure and police investigations and focused on identifying evidentiary, procedural and constitutional issues that can materially affect the outcome of a case. Where Charter rights have been infringed, he is prepared to challenge the admissibility of evidence and seek the appropriate remedy. Where a favourable resolution can be achieved, he negotiates from a position informed by a thorough understanding of the evidence and the law. Where a case requires trial, he is prepared to litigate it.

Before establishing his criminal defence practice in Ontario, Mr. Sadro practised law in Florida, where his work included complex civil and commercial litigation, insurance coverage disputes, bad-faith matters and appellate proceedings. His litigation experience in both Canada and the United States has contributed to a disciplined, analytical and strategic approach to advocacy and provides him with a perspective that is uncommon in Canadian criminal defence practice.

Mr. Sadro earned his Juris Doctor in Florida, graduating magna cum laude in the top 2% of his class. During law school, he served on the Moot Court Honor Board, was President of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society, and completed a Judicial Internship with the Honourable Joel B. Toomey of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. He also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from York University.

Mr. Sadro has devoted his Ontario practice to criminal defence and to representing people at some of the most consequential moments of their lives. His philosophy is straightforward: understand the evidence, know the law, prepare thoroughly, and never lose sight of what is at stake for the client.
